MLB season and preseason

The 2008 MLB season is underway. So is the 2008 preseason.

And that's how things will continue until March 31 because although the Boston Red Sox won their regular season opener this morning, the game took place in Japan and most other big-league squads won't start their seasons for about a week.

I watched today's 4 a.m. game between the Sox and Oakland's Athletics. I'm ready for regular season action but I have to wait.

Oakland led 4-3 in the top of the ninth before left fielder Brandon Moss' moonshot tied the score. Boston went on to win the game 6-5 after a single extra inning.

I watched the game and I understand why this season began in this fashion.

Japan has money and Bud Selig wants it all. America has been stealing Japan's biggest stars for years and by opening our season on their soil, we can continue to pick and choose stars from the Japanese ranks for years to come. They probably won't even complain about it. After all, they got to see Big Papi.

The impact on America will be positive as well. Yesterday I didn't think about the 2008 season once, and today I'm ready for some baseball. This sneak peek is a great teaser for the upcoming season.

Much like when the NBA announced its dress code less than a month prior to its regular season in 2005. People were talking and people are talking.

No press is bad press.

Oakland and Boston play another game abroad Wednesday morning at 4 a.m. before returning home to finish their exhibition schedules.

Atlanta and Washington will begin their regular seasons March 30 at 6 p.m. after seven teams finish their exhibition schedules earlier in the day.

March 31 will be the first full day of regular season-only games of the year.

I'm ready for some baseball, but damn am I confused by this wait.

Welcome to my website. This page will allow family and friends to stay current on everything I'm doing and thinking, and I hope to make it good enough to serve as a digital portfolio as well.
