NFL Drafting and the Jazz

Game three of the Lakers-Nuggets series is tonight and I'm picking Denver at home, but not for the reason you might expect.

I don't expect Iverson to score fifty. I'm not holding my breath to watch 'Melo score forty. I'm not even optimistic about Camby blocking eight. I'm just excited to see the effects of Kobe Bryand spending the first of four nights in a Colorado hotel!

During game one, played in Cali, the home crowd chanted D-U-I in an attempt to mock Carmelo Anthony's arrest prior to the playoffs.

Umm, wasn't your star player accused of rape? Didn't Kobe almost get a divorce? Maybe Lakers fans should have let Melo's arrest slide.

Remember when Kobe crucified Utah after we booed Derek Fisher this season? I think Denver's win today will be a lot like that, except about one-fourth as decisive. Moving on.

The NFL Draft kicks off today at 1 p.m., the same time as the first NBA game of the day. I really don't know which I'd rather watch.

If you remember last year's draft, you remember it was longer than Tommy Lee and not nearly as entertaining. So why would I watch it over a basketball game? Because the Magic are playing the Raptors at 1 p.m.. Kill me now.

Magic win by eight and McFadden goes to Oakland with the fourth pick.

And finally the Jazz try to rebound from a tough home loss Thursday night against the Houston at 8:30 p.m.. Don't expect a fourth straight road victory in this series. The Jazz aren't losing another game until Kobe torches them for 55 in about eight days.

No word yet on whether Carl Landry has fixed his tooth from that errant Carlos Boozer elbow.

Sorry fans, no diary coming for game four, but I'll do at least two for the Western Finals and NBA Finals, assuming the Jazz make it that far.

(A little housekeeping: The picture in my byline now links to a larger picture of me, which in turn links back to the page you clicked from. Just click the picture and you'll return to the page from whence you came.)

Oh and one more thing: You may have noticed that a lot of my rants have been getting published the next day on the Utah State website. What can I say, they need me. But I wanted to point out that all of those double-publishings have been posted here at CJakeWilliams.com first, and up to 24 hours before the university gets them up. Also, they don't always get the full story, like when I cut my brother's Mexican joke out of Thursday's diary.

You were there.

Welcome to my website. This page will allow family and friends to stay current on everything I'm doing and thinking, and I hope to make it good enough to serve as a digital portfolio as well.
