The human body is a fragile and amazing thing.
I sprained my ankle on Monday and today is the first day since that a shoe has fit my swollen foot. That got me thinking.
The man-made solution for nursing a sprained ankle is to brace it up. Put a wrap around it or even a hard cast around the injury, but nature has its own cure.
The swelling around my sprain acts similarly to a hard cast. My range of motion is decreased, and there's a buffer between the aflicted area and the outside world.
My shoe would barely fit while wearing a plastic cast, and the swelling is just my body's natural version.
Or maybe it's just inflamation.
You were there.
