Before I get to the material I had planned, I need to comment on last night's fatal plane crash in New York.
Continental Connection Flight 3407 leveled a home in Buffalo, NY around 8:20 p.m. Utah time. Forty-eight souls in the air and one man inside the home died instantly. And my mom got the call.
My mom is a manager at the Continental Airlines reservation center just west of Salt Lake International Airport, the same reservation center where many of the victims' families' calls were answered. I can't imagine the words spoken during those calls.
One man1 interviewed by CNN reported his mother, after learning her daughter was on Flight 3407, made a sound into the phone that he had never heard before. I can only imagine those at the reservation center heard similar cries while we slept.
As many of us wake this morning, my mom is hours into a shift I hoped would never come, THE shift, but I'm greatful she is there.
I'm not sure what my grandparents said or did while raising her, but my mom is the most professional person I know. I know she'll inherit emotional burdens from last night's events, but I also know an unimaginable time in 50 families' lives will be a little easier because of her.
They know somebody cares about their loss. Even if there isn't a thing she can do about it, they know she grieves with them.
She cries.
Because they cry.
I love you mom. Thanks for being my example of what goodness a friend and mother and supervisor can bring to those around her.
I love you mom.
On second thought, that's all for today. Tomorrow I'll cover my theory of tickling, but I think we can all agree the time's not right.
Today's video closer is a video montage from the old John Madden Football 1992 video game. It features a cute little programming flaw whereby the ambulance runs over whomever gets in the way when a player gets injured. Enjoy.
Boom!
Oh there's one last thing before we part. I've created a GMail account for readers to send comments, criticisms, or compliments to my regular email. You can go to gmail.com to access the account.

1The man's name is Chris Kausner. Click here for a link to the interview2. His description of his parents is about one minute into the clip.
2The chick who interviews Chris is a prime example of why the world hates journalists. What a fucking idiot. She just barges onto the scene without any thought to the emotions of anyone involved in a crisis that ended 49 lives. Chris does an incredible job of maintaining his composure. He was within his rights to collapse her kneecaps.
You were there.
